Jake Needham is the author of four contemporary crime novels published
in Hong Kong and a dozen screenplays produced in the United States.
Jake’s novels are distributed and sold only in Asia. Although
they occasionally turn up online among the listings of big international
booksellers like Amazon where they are generally described as ‘unavailable’ or ‘out
of print’, none of Jake’s novels have ever been sold
through any of these booksellers or through any other bookseller
outside of Asia, at least not legally; and none of his novels are
out of print. In fact, more than 65,000 copies are currently in
print in four languages. Perhaps Amazon just assumes that any book
that isn’t sold through them must be out of print. Regardless,
here are two online book sellers in Asia where the English-language
editions of Jake’s books are legally sold: Select
Books in Singapore and Megabooks
in Bangkok.
Born in Texas longer ago than he now cares to remember, Jake graduated
from both Rice University in Houston and the Georgetown University
National Law Center in Washington, DC. Formerly a television and
a print journalist and a practicing attorney, Jake lived
in Washington, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Hong Kong, before stumbling
first into screenwriting and then into publishing crime novels
through a series of accidents too improbable to be believed anymore.
Jake and his wife, a concert pianist, now live in Hawaii. They
have two sons, James and Charles.
